About your host: the Western AME’s Association (‘WAMEA’)

WAMEA is a non-profit organization that exists to promote the AME career profession through outreach initiatives including school visits and community events. An AME’s path to membership to AMEC (Aircraft Maintenance Engineers of Canada) and TEAC (Techniciens D’Entretien D’Aeronefs du Canada) can only occur through membership of one of the six regional associations in Canada, including WAMEA.

The 2026 Western AME Conference and our ongoing youth outreach programs would not be possible without the generous support of our donors and sponsors. The Hangar Flight Museum in Calgary and WAMEA have entered a partnership which provides access to the museum’s workshops, classrooms and a home for our Mobile Community Outreach Unit when not visiting communities, aviation events, and schools.

Recently, Air Tindi Ltd made a significant donation of a 36 ft Mobile AME Outreach Unit to WAMEA - a former Government of Canada command centre. This donation is the largest in recent memory indicating Air Tindi leadership believes in our role in the community, industry, and is confident in the WAMEA Board of Directors and volunteers. Thank you, Air Tindi!

Contributions of merchandise to be used as door prizes are greatly appreciated.

Proceeds of Canada’s first “MRO Canada” event

The MRO Canada event will produce surplus funds which are directed towards our activities, including developing and delivering AME education programs and CAR 573.06 programs. Proceeds will pay for the procurement of interactive learning aids to equip our Mobile Community Outreach Unit, visiting middle/high schools students and holding annual AME open houses in each of our regions (Alberta, Northern BC, Yukon and NWT). Those annual visits will likely combine local aviation related events and school outreach. AME open houses will include Calgary, Lethbridge, Red Deer, Edmonton, Whitehorse and Yellowknife, with organization assistance from the local director or volunteer ambassadors.

One of our most significant financial needs is covering the costs of our outreach program volunteer travel expenses (truck rental, accommodation and meals). These expenses are incurred when we travel with our mobile unit, visiting schools and events through Alberta, Northern BC, Yukon and NWT. As funding / donations are received and set aside, we intend to acquire a used Ford 550, 6.7 L diesel power-stroke dually, Year 2011-2016, with a gooseneck ball for long highway trips in the future.

If you wish to discuss donations, contact:

RESPECTFUL REQUEST FROM WAMEA TO THE REGION’S AVIATION EMPLOYERS & COLLEGES

A historical complaint is ‘I can’t attend due to my school or work schedule.’ If a tech ops employee or student wishes to attend the conference, please consider offering them the opportunity to bank additional instruction or work hours prior to this event that can be used to attend without being considered absent or unpaid.

AME updates/training at the Conference can be used for CAR 573.06- certificates will be issued.
